A study conducted in 2012 found that bald men are seen as more mature, successful, masculine and more intelligent than men with a full head of hair.

Research on bald men

According to a study of the University of Pennsylvania scientist Albert E. Mannes performed research on bald men.

Mannes conducted the study in 2012 to find out how people react to men with shaved heads.

The research involved showing 60 participants two photos of the same men with a full head of hair, and another of them with shaved heads.

Bald men are attractive

Most of those who participated found the man with no hair most attractive more dominant, masculine and confident, taller and stronger than they actually were.

Mannes separate experiment in three parts:

Shaved heads: Dominant

Digitally removed Hair: More dominant, taller and stronger than their authentic selves.

Natural hair loss: May improve their interpersonal standing by shaving.

The men with Bald patches found to be less attractive.

Men with a single bald spot or several bare patches are perceived as weaker and less attractive.

Wiser and more intelligent.

Another study conducted by Psychologist Ronald Henss of the University of Saarland which involved 20 participants suggests that bald men are estimated to be older, but also seem wiser and more intelligent.

According to Dr. Muscarella:

"It could be speculated that although the characteristic of baldness decreases a man’s perceived physical attractiveness, it increases his perceived social dominance."

"There is a large body of literature that shows that although women like physically attractive men, they are also very attracted to signs of high social dominance."

According to Mannes

"In U.S. society … shaved heads are often found on men in traditionally masculine professions, so dominance may emerge through stereotypical associations with these figures."

Mannes continued:

"Instead of spending billions each year trying to reverse or cure their hair loss, the counterintuitive prescription of this research to men experiencing male pattern baldness is to shave their heads."

scientifically sexier

If you just take a look at some top-grossing actors such as Bruce Willis, Jason Statham, Vin Diesel and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, bald men really do kick ass and look good while doing it.

Next time you think you’re losing hair, go crazy and shave it all off
