Muffin Pan Hacks That Everyone Should Know

Posted by Missy aka Tizzy in Food On 22nd February 2018

Most of us have muffin pans in our cupboard, but many of us just do not use them or only use them for making muffins or cupcakes. Like many other kitchen utensils, these can be used for so many other things, amazing things. After seeing these muffin pan hacks, you will never use your muffin pan the same way again.

Condiment Tray

Are you planning a family barbeque? Instead of having all of your condiment bottles all over your picnic table, you can put them in your muffin pan with little serving spoons to keep things sanitary. This will save you some table space and avoid bottles being knocked down or spilled.

Fruity Ice Cubes

You will especially love this hack if you love fresh fruits in your drinks. Whether you are mixing up some margaritas, wanting to flavor up your water, or need a little something extra with your drink, this hack will be right up your alley. Just fill your muffin cups about halfway with water, then you can add your favorite fresh or frozen fruits. Pop them in your freezer, and after a few hours, you will be good to go.

Ice Cream Sundae Night

As a kid, we loved making ice cream sundaes. You can set up a family sundae bar using your muffin pan. Just dish everyone a scoop or two of ice cream in a bowl, and set up your toppings in the individual muffin cups. This way everyone can see what they want to add to their treat, and nobody is fighting to see what toppings are available.

Omelet Muffins

This is a great treat for people who are on the go. They can be baked and put in the refrigerator for later use. Just pick out your favorite omelet ingredients and put them in a muffin pan that has been sprayed with cooking spray. Then, add your egg and pop them in the oven until they are firm and a fork can be put through the center and come out clean.

Snack Trays

Does your kiddo come home from school with half the neighborhood because you are the mom with the best snacks? You will love this idea. Instead of handing out individual drinks and snacks, use your large muffin pan as a tray to deliver everything to the table at once.

Cookie Bowls

This is a fun twist on your regular baked cookies. Grease the bottom of your muffin pan, and form the cookie dough around the cups. Then, bake as you normally would. You end up with fillable cookie cups, and the possibilities are endless. We like to do this and add a scoop of ice cream while the cups are still warm. It makes for a delicious ooey-gooey treat.

Candle Holder

Most people keep tea lights and votive candles handy in case the power goes out. You can use your muffin pan to hold those candles, so you do not have to worry about them getting knocked over or getting wax all over your table tops. Once the wax has cooled, you can easily use a butter knife to pop it out of the pan.

Pizza Bowls

Pizza Bowls are a great after-school snack. You can use dinner roll dough and press it all around the sides and bottom of a greased muffin pan. Then, fill your cups with a spoonful of sauce, a pinch of cheese, and your favorite toppings. Then you just bake them at the same temp and time you would the dinner rolls.

Devilled Eggs

Did you know that you can bake devilled eggs? It is super easy. Just separate your eggs and pour the whites into the cups filling them to the top, then you put the yolks, unbroken, into the rest of the cups. Now you want to take a deep pan that your muffin pan will fit inside of and roll up some foil that will hold your muffin pan up from the bottom of the deep pan. Set your muffin pan on top and fill the deep pan with boiling water. Next, cover your whole pan and muffin pan with foil. Bake at 300 for 13 minutes. Prepare your yolks like you normally would and pipe them on top of your whites. Simple as pie.

Hard-boiled Eggs?

Speaking of eggs, you can make hard-boiled eggs in your muffin pans as well. Just put one egg in each cup of your muffin pan. Bake them for 30 minutes at 350. Afterward, put your eggs in an ice bath. Do this properly, and your eggs will peel perfectly!
