Ryan Reynolds Opens Up About His Struggle With Anxiety And The Ways The Deadpool Star Has Learned Over The Years To Cope With It

Mental health is real and the struggle to deal with it is also real. Many celebrities in the past have opened up about their struggle with mental health and unfortunately, a number of celebrities have also lost their battle against these silent monsters, which spares no one. Issues regarding the mental health have always been brushed under the rug but many unfortunate cases being reported in the past, one thing that has become clear is that mental health is real and it must be taken as seriously as any physical health issue. Recently, in an interview with New York Times, Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds opened up about his struggle with anxiety disorder and his ways to cope with it.

However, in his recent interview with Newyork Times, the Deadpool star opened up about his mental health and revealed that the actor suffers from severe anxiety and at times finds it really hard to cope the pressure that comes with being a celebrity.

#2 Actor Recently Opened Up About His Struggle With Anxiety

In an intimate conversation, the actor confessed that being a celebrity and being in the spotlight with trying to maintain his successful career is never an easy task. He said, "I have anxiety, I’ve always had anxiety. Both in the lighthearted ‘I’m anxious about this’ kind of thing, and I’ve been to the depths of the darker end of the spectrum, which is not fun."

#3 "Real Unhinged Phase"

We have all known Ryan as a star who emerged to fame with his versatile and amazing acting skills. His first major breakthrough came with the 2002 comedy National Lampoon's Van Wilder. Now famously known for his character in "Deadpool." However, what we don't know is the fact that during his early 20s Ryan was suffering from anxiety so bad that the actor started self-medicating, only to stop when he realised how dangerous his actions could be. The 41-year-old remembers that period as his "real unhinged phase."

#4 His Ways To Cope With Anxiety

Talking about ways as to how Ryan deals with his anxiety disorder, the actor says he gets into his character of Deadpool. He believes it helps him calm his anxiety and get through the day easily. He said, "When the curtain opens, I turn on this knucklehead, and he kind of takes over and goes away again once I walk off set."

#6 Ryan Gives Blake Credit For Keeping Him Sane Throughout His Struggle

The 41-year old says that he still gets anxiety attacks but he has learned his own ways to deal with it. One person that the actor gave credit to for helping him with his struggle and keeping him sane is his wife Blake, "Blake helped me through that, I am lucky to have her around just to keep me sane."
