A good news for Sherlock Holmes fans: Waiting has finally come to an end as there is going to be a third Sherlock Holmes with Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law as the main cast. The release is set to take place on Christmas in 2020 and the producers for the sequel have been declared but there is one thing that should be bothering the Warner Bros.

Sherlock Holmes fans need to embrace themselves as the wait is finally over. Seven years after the first sequel of the series "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" was released in 2011, the Warner Bros Entertainment has finally announced that the third installment of the Sherlock Holmes series will be released in theatres on the Christmas day of 2020.
#2. Robert Downey Jr. Will Be Returning With His Famous Role Of Detective Along With Jude Law As Watson
Robert Downey Jr., after winning our hearts through his famous role of Iron Man in Marvel's Infinity War, will be seen as the famous detective along with Jude Law as his loyal friend and counterpart Watson.
#3. Moriarty Might Not Be There In The Sequel
Although Downey Jr. and Jude's presence in the sequel has been confirmed, the villain Moriarty might not be there to entertain us in the third part of the Sherlock Holmes. "I think the last iteration when they last wrote a screenplay for Sherlock Holmes 3, Moriarty wasn't in it. So, I'm not focusing on it," Jared Harris told Digital Spy.
#4. Director Has Not Been Announced, Chris Brancato Affirmed As The Scriptwriter
The director for the second sequel has not been announced yet, however, the third installment will be produced by Susan Downey, Joel Silver, and Lionel Wigram with Beverly Hills 90210's story editor, Chris Brancato affirmed as the scriptwriter.

The first part of the series was released in 2009 and gained the industry's appraisal as it turned into a box office hit, earning $524 million globally. Even more fame was achieved by the sequel "A Game Of Shadows" which earned a total of $545.4 million.

It has been revealed that Warner Bros. was unable to release the second sequel due to Marvel's continued releases but the studio cannot be relieved as the competition has not faded. Reportedly, the release of Avatar 2 will take place one week before the Christmas 2020.
