Vitamin B2, also called Riboflavin, can prevent a migraine and reduce the need for treatment according to a research. Here are reasons why B2 is worth considering?

Migraine

A migraine is a primary headache disorder usually affect on just one side of the head and last from two to 72 hours. Migraines are diagnosed by the typical clinical signs and symptoms.

Four possible phases of a migraine

The Prodrome, which occurs one or two days before a migraine.

The Aura, which may occur before or during migraines.

The pain phase, also known as headache phase.

The final phase, known as post-drome.

Symptoms

Mood changes, from depression to euphoria

Weakness or numbness in the face or one side of the body

A throbbing headache

Sensitivity to light and noise

Vomiting

Vision changes, blurred vision

Dizziness

Lightheadedness, sometimes followed by fainting

Difficulty speaking

Hearing noises or music

Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) and migraine headaches

Migraine sufferers may not have enough Vitamin B2. Riboflavin has been identified as a vitamin that can help migraine sufferers. Vitamin B2 is necessary for the body's production of energy at the level of the cell. Vitamin B2 for Migraine prevention has been tested as an alternative to many different medications and supplements.

Three vitamins were cited as migraine culprits: Vitamin D, riboflavin (B-2) and coenzyme Q10

Dr. Jacob Teitelbaum said: "Unfortunately, the American diet has lost about half of its vitamins and other noncaloric nutrients because of food processing. This is why we are seeing people be both obese and malnourished at the same time for the first time in human history! In addition, vitamin D deficiency is rampant because of the misguided advice to avoid sunshine. Sunshine is critical for health, and research is suggesting that the advice to avoid sunshine may be contributing to tens of thousands of deaths. The proper advice is to 'avoid sunburn' — not sunshine!"

Bruno Colombo, Ph.D., University of Vita-Salute, Milan, Italy said:

"Riboflavin could be considered for future combination in migraine treatments, so-called pharmacological synergy, considering the abundant scientific evidence supporting the theory of mitochondrial disturbance enhancing migraine disorder."

Riboflavin capsules can be considered a safe, more natural alternative to pain killers.

In 2004, a clinical study by Boehnke et al patient was given 400 mg riboflavin capsules per day for six months. The headache frequency was significantly reduced from 4 days/month at baseline to 2 days/month after 3 and 6 months.

Vitamin B2 is safe to use

Vitamin B2 is natural, well tolerated and safe to use and comes at a much more accessible price than many medical alternatives. Taking 400 milligrams twice a day is a typical recommended dose.
